About

Mission and Purpose

Family Friendly Books is a project designed to help parents who are concerned for the content of their children's books. We strive to provide a transparent and reliable way for parents to guide their children to read appropriate and quality books.

Target Audience

This application was created due to the needs of a specific California community and other communities with similar cultural values. In this religious and traditional community, parents recognize the importance of preserving children's innocence, and they wish to be aware of what level of exposure their children are receiving.
Regardless of your approach to this subject, we invite you to utilize this as an excellent resource for easily finding quality books for your children or students.

Brief History

Ever since she was young, Sarah Lipman has been an avid reader. Once her children started growing up, she discovered that they shared her love for reading. As a mother, she decided to begin documenting a list of "approved" books that she felt were appropriate for her children to read. In 2013, she already had a list of over 300 books, so she started looking into options for turning this list into an app. None of those options materialized at that point, but the list kept growing!

In 2017, a Web & Application developer named Shira Shkarofsky offered to help make this dream a reality. As you can see, it's still a work in progress. If you'd like to help, please contact Shira Shkarofsky.
